You have two calendar years to use your child’s $1,158 CDBS allowance. Your child’s coverage takes effect on January 1st of the year they become eligible and continues until December 31st of the following year.
At that time, your child loses any unused benefits. Unfortunately, their remaining balance doesn’t roll over, but if your child is still eligible for coverage, a new two-year cycle begins on January 1st of the next year.
What Does CDBS Cover?
The Child Dental Benefits Scheme covers children from ages 0-17 and is designed to help eligible Australian residents receive the quality dental care they deserve.
To qualify, your child must be eligible for Medicare and receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or another qualifying Australian Government payment.
Your child’s CDBS benefits cover a wide range of preventive dental treatments, including the following:
- Routine dental check-ups
- Necessary x-rays
- Professional cleanings
- Dental fillings
- Root canal treatment
