How should I care for my dental implants after surgery?

Typically, dental implants don’t require a lot of upkeep. After we attach the crowns or prosthetics to the implant posts, you treat them like natural teeth.

In other words:

  • Brush and floss your teeth at least twice daily or after meals.
  • Visit your Charlestown dentist on schedule for checks and cleans.
  • Report oral health changes or concerns to our dental team.

Before we attach the crown or prosthetic, we recommend rinsing periodically with salt water and brushing carefully with non-abrasive toothpaste. You should also avoid strenuous activity and stick to a soft diet at first until your dentist tells you to transition to more complex foods.

Because every patient is unique, your experience and aftercare instructions will vary. However, your dentist will supply the necessary information to complement your recovery.

About Dental Implants in Charlestown, NSW

Dental implants are tooth root replacements designed to stand in for the ones you’ve lost. They are made of durable titanium and can integrate into bone. The goal of integration is to create a stable underpinning for replacement teeth (dental crowns) or fixed prosthetics, such as implant-supported dentures and bridges.

Are You Considering Dental Implants?

To learn more about tooth replacement, including candidacy, we urge you to call our dental clinic.

Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks, and we recommend seeking a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner before proceeding.
