Dr. Peter Cameron

Your First Visit

Welcome to the Charlestown, NSW dental clinic of Dr Peter Cameron, Dr Emily Cheng, Dr Daniel Ghaly and Dr Catherine O’Sullivan, Charlestown Dental Care. Our entire team is committed to providing top-quality dental care while exceeding your expectations in every way.

At your first appointment with us as a new patient, your dentist will conduct a comprehensive dental exam that includes:

  • Tooth-by-tooth exam
  • Gum health evaluation
  • Oral cancer screening of the soft tissues of the mouth
  • Treatment recommendations, as needed

If you have made arrangements ahead of time, you might also undergo a dental clean at your first appointment.

The Reason for Your First Appointment

For most people, they are visiting us the first time because they need an oral examination and a professional clean. We will likely recommend that you allow us to take x-rays at this time. For most patients, taking x-rays once a year is adequate.

If you have come to us for another reason, such as an emergency, we’ll address that immediately to ensure your comfort. We can discuss any needed treatment at this time as well.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

For your convenience, we provide new patient forms right on our website. To save time at your appointment, you can download these and fill them out ahead of time. Be sure to bring these along to your first appointment.

Other important items to have on hand include the following:

  • Medical history
  • Prescription list, including dosages
  • Health fund card
  • List of questions
  • Payment for services

Be sure to alert us to any medical conditions or allergies you might have.

If you have had x-rays taken recently at another dental clinic, you can ask them to forward a copy to our office before your appointment. Or you can pick them up and bring them along with you.

Think about the cosmetic goals you might have for your smile and feel free to jot some notes for ease of discussion with your dentist. You may also wish to take notes during your appointment, particularly if there are any treatment recommendations.

We Welcome Your Questions

If you have other questions about your upcoming visit that haven’t been answered here or in our frequently-asked-questions section, we invite you to give us a call ahead of time. We want to do everything we can to ensure that you feel confident in choosing Charlestown Dental Care as the dentist to take care of your family’s oral health.

We look forward to seeing your smile.
